Okay, let’s do this. I’m staring at an empty page on Google Docs, ready to write.
I’m always ready to write, but now that it’s just me and this blank Google Doc, it’s actually time to do it.
Should be easy enough. I’ve written plenty before. I have a whole blog for goodness sake, this isn’t a new task at all.
Physically, it’s probably one of the least taxing activities out there. Maybe there’s a risk for carpal tunnel, but I’m not so sure. Let’s just say that the risks to writing are pretty minimal.
I love talking. I love thinking. I love having opinions. I love forcing people to acknowledge said opinions. Everyone has a podcast nowadays, not that I would even want to start a podcast. I’m a writer, I like writing.
Which is why this blank page on Google Docs is so exciting to me—an opportunity to write.
And that’s all I have to do. Write. Fill this blank Google Doc with words made up of letters and some punctuation sprinkled in here and there. I prefer my writing to be relatable and witty, though, so I suppose that requires a bit more effort.
But as established, I like writing. So this really isn’t so bad. Formulate a thought, throw some words down, do some browsing on Thesaurus, add in some sarcasm, and there you go: writing.
Maybe I should think of a title first, just to have a starting off point.

The title is taking too long to come up with. Back to writing.
I love writing though, so it’s going to be easy.
Just have to think of a good opener to the piece. Or maybe I don’t really need to think that hard—my only goal here is to get words down on paper. I can always come back later and revise, they do say editing is the most strenuous part of writing.
That makes my job a lot easier. I don’t even have to think of good words, now. Just words. Just have to get regular, plain, everyday words on the paper. As a writer, I can do this in my sleep.
Maybe I should make an outline first. Structure the whole piece and then fill in the blanks. Do the thinking and planning first, then the writing. Considering how much I love writing, writing will be the easy part. Just think and write, think and write.
Funny enough, those are two of my favorite things to do: thinking and writing. This is going to be a walk in the park.
Just as soon as I get the first line down on this blank Google Doc I’m staring at, we’ll be golden.
Easy.
